Did you know you can grow food almost anywhere? Check out these great ideas from Horseandman.com and visit the link below for more details. Hay bales are grasses that have been dried and baled together. Hay bales and straw bales can be used for growing food. First, though, they need to be “conditioned”.   42-0-0 fertilizer, or some urea (nitrogen), should be added to the bales with water over a 10-day period to fed the fungi, bacteria and insects already there. "Conditioning" will break down the bales into fresh, virgin compost to feed your plants. The inside of the bales will get hot during the conditioning process, though, so wait until its over to plant and be sure to water your bales to mitigate any danger of fire.. Once it is over, simply plant your vegetable seeds or germinated seedlings into the bale and water them once a day. In addition to fresh vegetables and herbs, the bales will make a heap of fresh compost by the end of the season that can be used for future planting." Pallets and gutters can also be used to grow plants.
