Fly-In and Virtual Intern Program

WE WOULD LOVE to have you join us as a Fly-In Intern!

Volunteer as a short-term Fly-In Intern to assist with our service learning and educational immersion programs.
 

Why be a Fly-in or Virtual Intern?

  • Travel with purpose and in a way that meaningfully      engages real people doing real things in real places
  • Learn, serve, and grow

What would an intern do?
  • Assist in running the overall operations of service learning trips and experiential education programs
  • Co-facilitate the experience
  • help set up programs, materials, work projects, etc
  • Support the coordination of daily logistics
  • Manage crews
  • Be a role model for the group
  • Liaison with students, staff, and community members
  • Document the experience including photos, interviews, social media, etc
  • Support follow-up, social media, and outreach

How does it work?
SPEAK with our staff
SELECT the trip you would like to intern for - check calendar, dates, location, details
SUBMIT an application and /or complete a personal phone interview
SIGN and submit forms including liability waiver & medical forms
ARRANGE your travel to and from Santa Fe, New Mexico
COMPLETE orientation and regional field training as necessary and as time permits
PARTICIPATE in the program and support the success and safety of all
PROVIDE feedback and complete the internship evaluation
SHARE your stories and photos
RECEIVE a signed letter of recommendation documenting hours and efforts

Qualifications
  • Prior participation in at least one experiential education or service learning trip preferred
  • At least 18 years old
  • Valid ID and/or drivers license
  • Personal Health Insurance
  • Spirit of service
  • Eagerness to learn
  • Willingness to work with others
  • Good communication skills
  • Adaptability and resourcefulness

Helpful Information
During the student group program, food, lodging, and any ground transportation with the group is provided. Any additional or personal expenses, snacks, incidentals, souvenirs, personal transportation or site seeing, shopping, or meals before and after the group program, and transportation to and from Santa Fe are the responsibility of Fly- In Interns.

Participants usually fly into Albuquerque or Santa Fe airports. Fly-in Interns are responsible for their own air and ground transportation to and from Santa Fe. Santa Fe is one hour north of Albuquerque. There are airport shuttles available from Albuquerque to Santa Fe, as well as limited train service via the RailRunner train and airport bus.

Any expenses incurred due to personal emergency or individual travel are the soul responsibility of Fly-In Interns.  Trips and programs can also be canceled or changed significantly by the group or the community and any cost incurred by Fly-In Interns due to program or trip changes are the sole responsibility of Fly_In Interns.  

Fly-In Interns are expected to comply with all local, state, federal, and tribal laws, rules, and regulations and to carry themselves with a sense of dignity, integrity, and respect. We reserve the right to suspend program participation of a Fly-in Intern at any time and without explanation.  Upon suspension, all expenses incurred would be the sole responsibility of the Fly-In Intern.

For an additional fee plus completion of pre- and post- online activities and materials, up to 3 units of course credit from an accredited college may be available for Internship Program participants. Please email us directly to learn more at [email protected]
