What is a Blog?

Features of a Blog Post:
  • Roughly 300 words
  • One topic or idea ​

Parts of a Blog:
  1. An attention-grabbing headline
  2. A captivating lead paragraph  
  3. Interesting supporting info 
  4. A call-to-action and pathway to act​

​Write a Blog Post

1. Title
​
Write a title for your blog post.
Tip: How can you make the headline interesting or attention-grabbing?
2. Write
Write a draft of your blog post:

Tip: What questions, quotes, or interesting facts can you add to your blog post?
  • ​My Mentor is (name)...
  • My Mentor lives (where)...
  • My Mentor works (with what company or organization? doing what?)...
  • My Mentor got started in this career path (how? what inspired your Mentor?
    What did your Mentor study?)...
  • Add a few interesting points about your Mentor's career path, company or organization,
    and accomplishments...
  • I was interested in this mentorship because...
  • As part of this mentorship, I ...(share activities or projects you have worked on)
  • From My Mentor and this Mentorship program, I have learned..

3. Closing
At the end of your blog post, include a closing sentence and invite your reader to learn more,

leave a comment, or share the post. 

4. Edit and revise
Reread your blog post, check your facts, proofread for proper spelling and punctuation.

5. Add an image
Think about what image you could add to make this post more interesting.
Tip: Add a logo, photo, or drawing. Include the name and link of the source
(and confirm you have permission to use it)


6. Submit
Upload blog to a Google doc AND share with editing privileges with giselle at [email protected]
