YOU CAN HELP "To Walk in Beauty...Again"
A journey of reconnection and understanding of the Diné (Navajo) centered ways of knowing.

The Kickstarter Campaign for Ryan Begay's documentary film "To Walk in Beauty...Again" comes to an end at noon on Friday, February 5, 2016. An "all or nothing" campaign, please help Ryan reach Kickstarter's fundraising GOAL by February 5 so he can get this project moving AND so we can send Ryan the message that this project and his questions and his quest matter! . We believe his journey is the journey of many....PLEASE spread the word and click here to back his heart-felt initiative to reconnect and share his process and discoveries with others through a documentary film.

To Walk in Beauty...Again is a documentary that follows the journey of Ryan Begay, a Navajo veteran and filmmaker living in Albuquerque, New Mexico, as he returns to the Navajo Nation in hopes of re-connecting to people, place, language, and traditional knowledge. It is a story about courage and the importance of language and culture, as well as the importance of the relationships in our lives.

Ryan Begay grew up in the town of Flagstaff, AZ, a Navajo nation "border town." While  he was raised with the Navajo culture around him, not having the ability to speak the Navajo language detached him from understanding Navajo-centered ways of knowing. After high school, he left the boundaries of his homeland and enlisted in the Air Force. His interest in film grew and a new career path emerged. During all of this, Ryan rarely made trips back to the Navajo Nation. The feeling of being lost and disconnected is too great to ignore. His major motivation for this project are his two children, Magdalena and Nathaniel.
