Today the students from Archbishop Mitty worked on a farm near Shiprock, New Mexico where they learned about dry farming and the importance of organic, heirloom seeds. The students were surprised by the satisfaction and contentedness they felt after a long day of hard work.

The students were responsible for collecting firewood, building the fire, and maintaining it.
Community Learning Network students enjoy a morning of service work at Barrio Unidos in Chimayo.5/24/2019 The Guadalupe St. Banner proposal is on the City Council agenda for May 29th at City Hall. Our city partners have stressed that it is vital to get as much attendance at this meeting as possible in order to show the city that we are aligned in our commitment to revitalize and promote Guadalupe St. During the hearing, individuals are given the opportunity to speak for a maximum of 2 minutes. It would be extremely impactful to have as many business owners as possible voice their support in person to the City Council. This is a class for beginners to intermediate participants. In this class you will learn all aspects of tanning hides using animal brains or lecithin and olive oil. Starting with fleshing and graining the hides, you will learn softening techniques as well as how to smoke a hide to finish it allowing it to be washed multiple times. If you wish to just leave your hide white (ceremonial) and not smoke it, that is possible also. Learn to trouble shoot and tan consistently soft hides every time. Hide and all materials and tools provided for the class. Cost- $175 Location: Santa Fe, NM. Space for 6 participants.
